We are delighted to support Jubilate! which is a social outreach after-school programme with an emphasis on music; specifically, building an orchestra. The programme is offered every weekday throughout the school year, to children in Cayman Eastern District public schools, and in 2021, 50 students from 8 schools are actively enrolled.
Inspired by El-Sistema of Venezuela, a publicly financed, voluntary sector, music-education program, (est. 1975), Jubilate! emphasizes group participation, builds strong work ethics, patience in learning and perseverance in resolve. We hope we added inspiration into the mix - one of the pieces we played at 'Midsummer Music' was Danzon No 2, performed at the 2007 BBC Proms by young members of El-Sistema of Venezuela, to rapturous acclaim. Cayman Youth ChoirThe Youth Choirs are run with the support of Cayman Arts Festival as part of their extensive education programme.
Our Musical Director is Naomi Allnutt who runs two choirs which both rehearse on a Monday, after school. Our "Tiddly-Pops" choir for ages 6-10 rehearses from 3.30-4.15 and our Senior Choir, for ages 10-18 from 4.30 - 5.45. The choir is totally free to join and is run on a no audition basis - everyone is welcome. Alistair Law accompanies the Senior Choir and Simon Allnutt accompanies the "Tiddly-Pops". Cayman Youth OrchestraWe are a stand alone not-for-profit group, under the guidance of our Musical Director, Ian Emerson. The sheer talent of the full Cayman Youth Orchestra will send chills down your spine, which is why we audition prospective members twice a year.
We produce concerts quarterly and rehearsals are on Wednesday afternoons 2 - 4pm . We welcome all support whether you participate by playing, or by attending our performances (and everything in between - sponsors and helpers always welcome!)
